Use scrap paper (or not) to create handmade cards. These modern DIY card ideas use up colorful cardstock for eye-catching paper crafts.

Creating paper strips from your cardstock is an easy way to make modern, graphic designs for your paper crafts. Some ways to trim up your paper is to use a paper trimmer, dies and a die cutting machine, or a electronic cutting machine.

For the colors, you can use your scrap paper or pull aside from pieces that will coordinate. Here, I did a little bit of both.

I used jewel toned colors on black cardstock to create a vary vibrant look. Since I work in batches, I did all of my paper strip designs forst, then I added the sentiments, and then coordinating jewels.
